What EXIF data reveals

  • Location: GPS latitude, longitude and altitude — often precise enough to find a home.
  • Device: camera or phone make, model, lens and serial numbers.
  • Time: when the photo was taken, digitized and last modified, including time zone.
  • Software: editing apps and the host computer name.
  • Thumbnail: a small preview that can show the image before it was cropped.

Remove all or just some

This tool opens in Selective mode with all EXIF categories ticked. Untick what you want to keep — for example keep camera settings for a photography portfolio but remove GPS and serial numbers. Switch to Complete to remove XMP, IPTC and C2PA as well.

The Orientation flag is kept by default so photos stay upright; turn off “Preserve orientation” to drop it too.
