The fastest way: online, without uploading
Open the metadata remover, drop in your photos and press Remove Metadata – Free. It works on JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF and HEIC, removes EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC and C2PA, and processes everything inside your browser.
Batch cleaning with ZIP download — free and private.
Remove metadata nowOn iPhone
- Open the photo in Photos and tap Share.
- Tap Options at the top of the share sheet.
- Turn off Location (and, on recent iOS versions, All Photos Data) before sharing.
This only affects the shared copy. To clean the file itself, use the online tool above.
On Android
- In Google Photos, open the photo, swipe up for details and remove the location.
- Some phones also offer a “Remove location data” switch in the gallery’s share options.
Camera model and timestamps usually remain; use the EXIF remover to delete them.
On Windows
- Right-click the photo and choose Properties.
- Open the Details tab and click Remove Properties and Personal Information.
- Choose to create a copy with all possible properties removed.
Windows does not remove C2PA Content Credentials or PNG prompt text — the online tool does.
On Mac
- Open the photo in Preview and choose Tools → Show Inspector.
- In the GPS tab, click Remove Location Info.
Preview removes location only. For everything else, use the online remover.
Check the result
Open the cleaned file in the image metadata checker or the EXIF viewer to confirm nothing sensitive is left.
