Question 1

What is an AI metadata remover?

Accepted Answer

It is a tool that deletes the hidden data AI image generators and editing apps store inside a picture file. That includes fields such as the IPTC DigitalSourceType value “trainedAlgorithmicMedia”, the name of the app that created the image, prompts and seeds saved by Stable Diffusion or ComfyUI, and C2PA Content Credentials. The visible image is not changed.

Question 2

How do I remove AI metadata from an image?

Accepted Answer

Add your photo to the upload box at the top of this page, leave “Complete” selected (or choose “Selective” and tick only what you want gone) and press “Remove Metadata – Free”. The cleaned copy is scanned again to confirm the result, then you can download it on its own or as part of a ZIP.

Question 3

Does this remove EXIF data?

Accepted Answer

Yes. It can delete the whole EXIF block — camera make and model, serial numbers, lens and exposure settings, date taken, GPS and the embedded preview thumbnail. Selective mode lets you remove only some of it, such as GPS. One Orientation flag is kept by default so pictures don’t appear sideways; you can turn that off.

Question 4

Can I remove C2PA metadata?

Accepted Answer

Yes, from JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF and HEIC files. Embedded C2PA manifests are deleted wherever they are stored in the file. Doing so breaks the original digital signature. Some images only point to an online manifest through an XMP field; remove XMP too to drop that link.

Question 5

Does this remove invisible AI watermarks?

Accepted Answer

No. Invisible watermarks like Google SynthID are woven into the pixels, not stored as metadata. Because this tool leaves pixels untouched, those watermarks stay in the image. We will never claim otherwise.

Question 6

Are my uploaded images stored?

Accepted Answer

Your images are never uploaded in the first place. They are opened and processed inside your own browser by JavaScript running in a Web Worker. There is no upload server and nothing is saved; closing the tab clears everything. The site’s security policy also blocks the page from sending data to other servers.

Question 7

Is this metadata remover completely free?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every tool is free with no account, no watermark and no daily limit. A per-file size limit and a batch limit simply keep your browser responsive.

Question 8

Does image quality change after removing metadata?

Accepted Answer

No. The metadata tools edit the file’s container and copy the compressed image data exactly, so every pixel is identical. Only the converter, compressor and resizer re-encode images, and those pages say so clearly.

Question 9

Can I remove metadata from multiple photos at once?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Select or drop several photos together, up to the batch limit shown under the upload box. Each file is scanned, cleaned and checked, and you can download all of them in a single ZIP file.

Question 10

Will removing metadata remove the AI label on Instagram or other platforms?

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily. Platforms can also rely on invisible watermarks, image classifiers, account signals and the label you add yourself, and many require you to disclose realistic AI content. Removing metadata removes metadata — nothing more. Please follow each platform’s rules.

Question 11

Why does my real photo show “AI info”?

Accepted Answer

Editing apps that use generative features (for example generative fill or AI erase) can write AI-related fields or Content Credentials into the file even when most of the photo is real. Run the image through the metadata checker to see exactly which field is present.

Question 12

Which file formats are supported?

Accepted Answer

JPG/JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF and HEIC/HEIF. In AVIF and HEIC files metadata is blanked in place, because deleting it outright would mean rebuilding the image structure. Their ICC color profile is kept, and the results tell you so.
