What is C2PA?

C2PA (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity) defines “Content Credentials”: a signed manifest embedded in a file that records who or what created it and how it was edited. AI tools use the c2pa.created action with a trainedAlgorithmicMedia source type to declare generated images.

Removing credentials

Removing the manifest is lossless for the image, but it permanently breaks the provenance chain and invalidates the signature. It does not remove pixel watermarks. Consider whether you need to disclose AI use where you publish.
